Programs

Under the three main Activity Areas (Social Entrepreneurship, Public Engagement, and Education), the Center has three major active Programs.
  • iconTech Awards

Every year since 2001, the Center organizes the judging panels for this international recognition program presented by the Tech Museum of San Jose. We publish a special of issue of our Nexus magazine to coincide with the annual gala ceremony where 5 finalists (Laureates) in each of the five categories (Education, Environment, Economic Development, Health, and Equality) are recognized, and one in each category is selected to receive a $50,000 cash award. In addition, since 2005 we organize a companion conference at the SCU campus that brings together a variety of constituencies interested in the field of social entrepreneurship.
  • iconGlobal Social Benefit Incubator

Launched in 2003, this program works with a carefully selected group of social entrepreneurs to empower them and their organizations, and to help them overcome barriers to scale and impact. With the class of 2008, a total of 87 award-winning social enterprises have attended this program and become part of a growing network of alumni dedicated to creating a more just and sustainable world.
  • iconSocial Enterprise Innovation Network

The Center for Science, Technology, and Society's Social Enterprise Innovation Network will be an online innovation, collaboration, learning, and networking workspace that enables social entrepreneurial ventures to scale their reach and impact. We are presently in beta release to select global partners. Public launch will be later in 2009.
