At a glance:

Andrew Kok '06 is a dedicated crew captain of a team that participates in "3 Day for the Cure."

The Susan G. Koman foundation helps raise awareness and funds for breast cancer research. Starting in 2003, SCU graduate Andrew Kok MBA '06 has helped to facilitate the foundation's extremely successful "3 Day for the Cure" event during which participants walk 60 miles over three days.

As a crew captain, Kok helps to build the camps in which as many as 4,500 people call home for 72 hours. His dedication to the cause has led him to participate in the Boston, San Diego, and San Francisco legs of the countrywide tour.

Kok finds joy in the generosity of the community that comes together and donates its time and energy to an important cause. Breast cancer is a serious disease, and as Kok says, the race for the cure is "a truly amazing experience that opens your eyes to the seriousness of this disease."

"It opens your mind to the generosity of peoples' willingness to donate time and energy," he adds. "It opens your heart to the spirit of a community coming together that feels everyone deserves a lifetime."
