SCU Alumni Association
From the Alumni Office
Having met a lot of you during the past 20 months, I’ve been surprised at how many alumni don’t know where the Donohoe Alumni House is located. As you can see from the map, we’re right in the heart of campus—next door to St. Joseph’s, across Alviso from Kenna, and kitty corner from Benson. The building houses the Alumni Association (first floor) along with the Office of Communications and Marketing (second floor). In addition to the daily business of the Alumni Association, programs and events are held throughout the year in the conference room and in the adjoining Mission Gardens.
As a colleague said to me recently, a university’s alumni house should be the “living room of your campus for alumni.” While we’re still working on getting a big screen TV and a fireplace (just kidding), we do hope you’ll come to consider the Donohoe Alumni House your SCU home away from home.
Did You Know?
The Donohoe building, a gift from James and Rose Donohoe, was built in 1924 as the campus infirmary. With the completion of Cowell Health Center in 1975, the space was remodeled largely with donations from alumni. This year marks the 30th anniversary of the Donohoe Alumni House and we hope you’ll make a point of stopping by next time you’re on campus.
The SCU Alumni Association honored five alumni with the Ignatian Award at a wonderful luncheon on March 5. To learn more about the award and this year’s outstanding recipients, please read the article in the Mission Matters section or visit our Web site at www.scu.edu/alumni/services/ignatianaward.cfm . I’m also pleased to officially announce the launch of inCircle, our new online social networking service. inCircle helps you stay personally and professionally connected by finding classmates, identifying others who share your hobbies, advertising fun activities, and establishing new business contacts. Since all members are SCU alumni, you’ll find the people you want through the people you trust most.
