Russell, Paul

Paul Russell '73, MBA '82 was appointed senior vice president of engineering at ArrayPower, a Silicon Valley-based power electronics company.

Russell has more than 25 years of experience in technology development for companies in the solar, aerospace and defense industries. Prior, he served as senior vice president of engineering for concentrated photovoltaic solar systems provider Amonix. Additional experience includes multiple executive positions with Northrop Grumman and Space Systems/Loral, as well as systems engineering roles with Ford Aerospace.

Miller, Jeffrey
Jeffrey A. Miller ’73, MBA ’76 has been elected to SCU’s Board of Trustees. Miller has more than 35 years of high-tech experience in semiconductors, hardware, and software companies. Prior to establishing the business-consulting firm JAMM Ventures, Miller was a venture partner with Redpoint Ventures, mentoring CEOs of portfolio companies. He was previously chairman and CEO of Documentum, an enterprise document-management software company that became one of the fastest-growing technology companies in the country under Miller's leadership. He spent the early years of his career at Fairchild Semiconductor and Intel, also holding senior marketing and general management executive positions at Adaptec and Cadence Design Systems. He serves or has served on the boards of Lithium, MarkLogic, McAfee, Accept Corp., Data Domain, Datameer, ServiceNow, Unicru and American Prairie Reserve. He was previously co-managing director of SCU's Center for Science, Technology, and Society.

Clark "Gus" Guinan J.D. '73 has retired after 39 years practicing law, the last four years as the city attorney of Burlingame. Gus and his wife, Signe, live in Berkeley.

Freshman Dorm: Swig

Russell W. Gill ’73 writes, "I owned and operated Russ' RV Service for 27 years in San Diego County, then moved to Kansas in 2010 for a change in scenery after my wife passed away with MS. In 2011 I was forced to retire after suffering a massive stroke and heart attack. Today I play darts for fun and money as well as support and work with several nonprofit charities, including the National MS Society, the Heart Association, and the American Stroke Foundation."

Charney, Howard
Howard S. Charney MBA ’73, J.D. ’77 has been elected to SCU’s Board of Trustees. Charney is an engineer, serial entrepreneur, patent law attorney, and a 35-year veteran of Silicon Valley's high-tech industry. As senior vice president at Cisco, he contributes to the networking company's strategy and direction, advises customers on implementing critical Internet technologies, and communicates Cisco's vision to key audiences worldwide. He was one of the four founders of 3Com Corporation, and the founder of Grand Junction Networks, which invented Fast Ethernet and low-cost switching, and which was purchased by Cisco in 1995. In addition to his SCU degrees, he received a bachelor's and a master's degree in mechanical engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He sits on the boards of several technology companies, and is on the advisory board for SCU's Center for Science, Technology, and Society.
