Angel Diaz ’99 and Alma Diaz Parra ’01 welcomed their first child, Eduardo Angel, on September 7, 2011. The family resides in Los Angeles.
Lisa Dazols ’01 and Jennifer Chang at San Francisco City Hall. In attendance were Cheryl Dumesnil (former SCU faculty), Sarah (Canepa) Pastran ’01, Armando Pastran ’01, Kelly (Linder) Ernst ’01, Jonathan Ernst ’01, Michele (Eggers) Lago ’01, Aimmon Lago ’01, Joseph Albers ’02, and Karen (Dazols) Albers ’01. The newlyweds also have a film coming out in the spring called Out and Around: Stories of a Not-So-Straight Journey (www.OutandAround.com).
Carrie (Fuller) Asprinio ’01 and husband Jim Asprinio welcomed their second son, Kyler Max, on March 5, 2013. He joins brother Braylen, 2. Proud Grandpa and SCU alumnus Jerry Fuller ’74 couldn’t be happier. The family lives in Seattle, Wash.
Jaime (Novotny) Allen '01 is the director of education at Humane Society Silicon Valley in Milpitas. She and husband, Ron, have no children but are filling their lives (naturally) with a multitude of pets. Minky, Bouncer, Miss Emily, and Munchkin complete their family. They live in San Jose.
On completing three terms as Program Director at Don Bosco Renewal Centre in Bangalore, Joseph Thannickal M.A. ’02 has been granted a sabbatical year at Fordham University and JST Berkeley to complete some writing work. Following his sabbitcal, Joseph will return to India to take up another interesting assignment. Currently he is enjoying the warm humidity of NY.
Brendan Stamper '02 has been working for the past year as an assistant professor at the Pacific University School of Pharmacy.
Amanda Murray J.D. ’02 and Matthew Nowakowski, both of Redwood City, were wed on Sept. 21, 2013, at Murrietta’s Well Winery in Livermore.
Christine (Lupo) Montgomery '02 writes, "I received my Ph.D. in English from U.C. Santa Cruz in 2012 and now have a two-year postdoctoral position in the English department at my undergraduate university, Santa Clara."
Sean Mendelson ’02, a.k.a. Teacher Sean, just finished producing his first children’s music album, Crank Out the Music. The music is vibrant and fresh with an engaging alternative vibe, a nod to Mendelson’s history of playing in rock bands.
Mendelson, a Santa Clara University graduate, composed 12 songs in just three days.
Ramon Marquez III '02 and Nina Nejah '04, M.S. '07 were blessed with a beautifuly baby girl, Jasmine F. Marquez, on Dec. 11, 2012. Baby Jasmine weighed 7 pounds 6 ounces and measured 20.5 inches. The Marquez Family continues to reside locally in San Jose.
Paul Laurie '02 co-founded Walking Tree Travel, a summer Peace Corps–like program for teens that works in countries from China to Costa Rica, Senegal to Spain. Annually the company senda hundreds of teens to small villages to build schools, learn about local culture, and, most important, return to teach their friends about a world outside of the United States.
Sheri Lara ’99 and Ronald Lalangan were married at Mission Santa Clara on August 17. The happy couple were surrounded by their family and friends, including fellow Bronco Susan Lalangan Vaughan who served as a bridesmaid.
Ian Kelly '02 and Bethany (Stevenson) Kelly '02 welcomed their second daughter, Caitlin Clara, on July 30, 2012. She joins big sister Erinne. Her middle name comes from the place her parents met: Santa Clara! The family lives in Portland.
Andrew Gere MBA '02 has been promoted to Vice President of Operations at San Jose Water Company. Andrew has been with the company since 1995 and has been instrumental in the development and implementation of many regulatory compliance plans and capital improvements necessary to the company's success. He leads the company's largest employee base, including Water Quality, Operations, Distribution Systems and DS Support. In that role, he is in charge of planning and directing comprehensive programs, budgets and management staff related to water resources, water quality control, water production, storage, distribution, infrastructure maintenance and repair, metering, procurement, logistics and environmental management.
Christine Donovan J.D. ’02, a senior staff attorney for the Solano County Superior Court, has been appointed the Judicial Council's Family and Juvenile Law Advisory Committee. Donovan, who has worked for Solano County Superior Court since 2007, is a Certified Family Law Specialist through the State Bar of California, Board of Legal Specialization and has served as a faculty member for the Center for Judiciary Education and Research at the Administrative Office of the Courts.
Elia DeLuca ’02, J.D. ’06 was named a Rising Star in the Northern California Super Lawyers 2013 edition, which recognizes the top up-and-coming attorneys in the state. DeLuca practices labor and employment law in the San Francisco office of Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton.
Carly A. Dadson ’02 is special counsel at Dannis Woliver Kelley in Long Beach. She advises and counsels public school district clients on a wide range of personnel-related matters.
Maya Vestal Apolinario ’02 and Paulo Apolinario ’02 welcomed daughter Sara Alexandra on October 12, 2012. Her proud big brother, Marco Cruz, is three years old, and the family lives in San Jose.
