Fitness Class Descriptions

  • iconAM Pilates

    A core training class that gets real results.  Focused exercises linked to the breath sculpt the muscles of the trunk and hips for greater strength, flexibility, balance, and stability.  All levels are welcome. 
  • iconBody & Stretch Conditioning

    This 1.5 hour class combines a 45 minute weight and conditioning workout followed by 45 minutes of Pilates, core, yoga and stretch training. This class combines various fitness principles to achieve the maximum in core and fitness training. This class is challenging but can be modified to all levels.
  • iconBronco Kick

    Cardio and body toning in one 45 minute class!  Sculpt your arms, define your legs, and get killer abs in this drill-style kickboxing class!  This class is taught by a student instructor-in-training.
  • iconCardio Body Blast

    This is a cardio and interval conditioning class that incorporates cardiovascular fitness moves with strength training to provide a total body workout.  The class will feature a variety of styles including step, kickboxing, hi/lo, calisthenics, and more!
  • iconCardio Kickboxing

    Backed by high energy music, the Cardio Athletic Kickboxing workout incorporates kicks, punches, elbows and knees, and combinations used in martial arts and boxing together with effective athletic drills.  Perfect cueing and instruction allow beginners as well as more advanced exercisers to follow the challenging combinations, burn fat, release stress, & have fun!
  • iconExpress Classes (Zumba / Cardio Sculpt / Butts & Guts/Core & More)

    You are cordially invited to join all or part of SCU’s “Hard Core Challenge.” The challenge consists of four thirty-minute classes with a five-minute break in between, featuring functional and core fitness made fun! All fitness and experience levels are welcome. In Zumba, get ready for a salsa-based aerobics class that is fun and easy to do (no dance experience necessary)!  The class combines high-energy and motivating music with unique moves and combinations that allow the participants to dance away their worries.  The next class, Cardio Sculpt, is a dynamic low-impact workout. Alternate using hand weights and bands with step aerobic routines to maximize toning and calorie burn. It’s fun, effective, and challenging.  In Butts and Guts, we will do exercises specifically designed to define and sculpt your bottom and tone and flatten your tummy. For your glutes, we will do lunge squats, butt blasters and attitudes. For your belly, we will crunch, twist, and do some challenging Pilates work.  The last class is Core & More, which is a fusion of core strength training and stretching that is Pilates and Yoga based. Tone your belly, strengthen your lower back, tighten your inner and outer thighs with mellow music playing in the background.
  • iconExpress Extension

    This is a two or three week extension (depending on the time of year) of noon hour fitness classes to bridge the gap between each quarter.  The class includes Step & Sculpt followed by Butts & Guts.
  • iconFusion Pilates

    This class will blend Pilates moves, Yoga stretches and props like bars, bands and foam rollers for a balanced mind and body workout. After just 6 classes, you will have stronger abs, toned legs and more flexible muscles.  
  • iconHatha Yoga

    Join Hatha Yoga to learn the science of physical and mental rejuvenation through techniques of relaxation, flexibility, and concentration.
  • iconInterval Training

    In this class, we will combine the best of Cardio Sculpt (basic step movements with weights in hand) with different one-minute cardio drills such as lunges, squat thrusts, plyometrics or jumping rope to maximize the amount of calories burned.
  • iconKick & Tone

    This class will feature a mixture of cardio kickboxing and body toning using equipment such as balls, body bars, mats, and more.  The workout will be put to upbeat dance tunes to guarantee an hour of fun.  This class is open to all fitness levels and can be tailored to fit the intensity you seek!
  • iconPower Yoga

    Learn the science of physical and mental rejuvenation through techniques of relaxation, flexibility, toning and balance. With the use of the breath, this class will flow (vinyasa) through various postures, which will strengthen and tone the body.
  • iconSteppin’ Up

    Backed by high energy dance music, the first half is an athletic step workout with higher and lower intensity options to accommodate all fitness levels. This is followed by Cardio Athletic Kickboxing© which incorporates kicks, punches, elbows and knees, and combinations used in martial arts together with effective athletic drills and abdominal work.
  • iconVinyasa Yoga

    This style of yoga consists of a flowing series of yoga postures (asanas), synchronizing the breath with each movement. This class cultivates strength, stamina, flexibility, and balance while dissolving tension and creating a sense of calm. Feel enlivened and renewed from the practice.
  • iconYoPi Mix

    This class mixes together yoga and Pilates movements in order to build core strength, balance, and stability.  The class will pay extra attention to the abdominal area and flows quickly to give a great workout.  This class is suitable for all fitness levels.
