IMG_1356

  • 20,000 square feet
  • Three hardwood maple courts for basketball, volleyball, and badminton
  • Divider curtains to separate courts as needed
  • We will always try to keep one court available for informal use during academic hours of operation

Gymnasium Schedule

Priority for use of the Gymnasium, or one of the three courts, goes to scheduled events and activities. All events and activities must be scheduled through the Director of Recreation. If an event or activity is in session, please do not disturb participants. Inquire at the Malley Center Front Desk for the event end time or see the Weekly Activity Schedule posted outside the Gymnasium. All activity schedules are posted online and can be found at Campus Recreation Calendar. Visit our website to ensure the courts will be open when you arrive.

Gymnasium Policies

In addition to the General Facility Policies, the Gymnasium policies are:

To protect the facility and equipment:
  • Hanging from the basketball rims or nets is not permitted.
  • Gymnasium use for informal recreation is limited to basketball, volleyball and badminton. Volleyball and basketball are always available and badminton can be set-up as requested.
  • Non-marking closed-toe athletic shoes must be worn on the courts.
Informal Basketball Guidelines:
  • Losing team players yield court to those waiting to play and may not participate until all individuals waiting have played.
  • Games are played to 11 points, with the winner winning by two.
  • Half court games are 3-on-3 and full court games 5-on-5 when individuals are waiting.
  • Disagreements are decided by a shot from the top of the key.
Informal Volleyball Guidelines:
  • Losing team players yield court to those waiting to play and may not participate until all individuals waiting have played.
  • Games are played to 15 points, with the winner winning by two.
  • Games are 6-on-6 when individuals are waiting.

Busy Times

Around 4:00 p.m. Monday-Friday there is typically at least one full-court game of pick-up basketball being played as part of open recreation.

A volleyball net is always set up on court 3 for students that would like to play volleyball.

Badminton is set up upon request at the Malley Center Front Desk if Court 3 is available.

Winter Quarter

Winter Quarter is our busiest time for the basketball courts. Campus Recreation has Intramural Basketball League games and Club Sport Volleyball practices almost nightly. We have to close the courts Monday - Thursday 9 - 11:00 p.m. for open recreation use.

On these same nights Monday - Thursday only one court will be open for open recreation from 5:00 - 9:00 p.m. See the Campus Recreation Calendar for the current schedule.

Courts Get A Facelift

Campus Recreation wanted to show some school spirit & add to our Intramural and Club Sport competitions by adding the word "Broncos" to the base lines & our logo to the middle of court 2. This work was done in the Fall of 2010 after the courts were over ten years old.

Annually the courts are sanded & refinished in December. Every 10 - 12 years they are completely sanded and repainted.
