Level 1: Introduction to Water Safety
Students will learn the basics of water safety, no prerequisites required.
What you will learn:
Front and back floating
Submerging mouth, nose, and eyes
Rotary breathing (exhaling underwater)
Begin learning front and back swimming using arms and legs

Level 2: Fundamental Aquatic Skills
Enhancing float/glide skills and front/back crawl. Prerequisites include 1) ability to back float for 15 seconds and 2) ability to glide and flutter kick for 1 pool length.
What you will learn:
Survival floats
Treading water
Developing front and back crawl
Sitting dives/jumping into the pool

Level 3: Stroke Development
Begin diving and complete submerging. Prerequisites include 1) ability to front and back float for 1 minute, 2) ability to tread water for 30 seconds and 3) ability to swim on front for 1 pool length.
What you will learn:
Submerge and retrieve an object
Kneeling and standing dives
Front and back crawl
Treading water using scissor kick

Level 4: Stroke Improvement
Learn breast stroke, dolphin kick, and treading. Prerequisites include 1) ability to survival float for 3 minutes, 2) ability to tread water with scissor kick for 30 seconds, 3) ability to perform kneeling and standing dives, and 4) ability to swim 1 pool length of both back and front crawl.
What you will learn:
Breast stroke kick
Elementary backstroke
Dolphin kick
Surface dives and underwater swimming

Level 5: Stroke Refinement
Begin butterfly and open turns. Prerequisites include 1) ability to tread water for 2-5 minutes, 2) ability to perform breast and side stroke, 3) ability to kick 2 pool lengths of breast stroke, side stroke, and dolphin kick, and 4) ability to front and back crawl for 2 pool lengths.
What you will learn:
Butterfly stroke
Open turns for breast stroke and butterfly stroke
Treading water using rotary kick

Level 6: Stroke Perfection and Endurance
Competitive starts, flip turns, and rotary treading. Prerequisites include 1) ability to tread water with rotary kick for 3-5 minutes, 2) ability to swim butterfly and breast stroke for 2 pool lengths, 3) ability to perform open turns, 4) ability to complete 100 IM (butterfly stroke, breast stroke, backstroke, and freestyle).
What you will learn:
Competitive starts (discussion)
Flip turns
Side stroke and lifesaving strokes with head out of water

Note on Levels
Depending on age and ability, some students may progress through these lessons quickly (including multiple levels in just one lesson) while others may take numerous lessons to pass one level. Your swim instructor will make sure to adjust your lessons to fit your age and ability.
