SANTA CLARA, Calif., Feb. 7, 2013 — The legal and privacy ramifications of the growing array of mobile technologies will be the topic of a Feb. 22 conference at Santa Clara University School of Law.

The event titled “The Mobile Revolution: Legal Ramifications of Spontaneity and Flexibility” will be held Feb. 22 from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on SCU’s campus at the Paul L. Locatelli, S.J., Student Activity Center, 500 El Camino Real, Santa Clara, CA 95053. It is sponsored by the editors of the Santa Clara Computer & High Technology Law Journal.

Panels will focus on topics including:

*The Mobile Patent Wars, including the rise in patent-infringement lawsuits; the patent arms race; and allocation of damages.

*The Evolution of Media Licensing, including Terms of Service practices and the challenge of balancing accessible content with copyright and trademark laws for content such as videos, photos, television, and music

*Privacy v. Convenience, including privacy and civil liberties implications of sharing photos, geo-location data, and personal information.

*Apps and Social Media Avenues to Public Interest and Social Justice, including Twitter and new technologies that can serve as bridges to solve social justice issues, as well as legal issues for their use across borders.
