Faculty Groups
|
There are a number of faculty groups on campus that provide opportunities for shared dialogue, support, and mentorship. Faculty Study GroupsThe Faculty Development Program provides modest funding in support of interdisciplinary study groups for faculty who wish to meet on a regular basis to read and discuss scholarship of mutual interest and support one another’s work. Click here for more information.Ignatian Faculty ForumThe Ignatian Faculty Forum (IFF) is a gathering of faculty leaders who meet once a month to explore how the Ignatian-Catholic tradition can inform the life of the scholar-teacher. Through shared dialogue focused on personal and professional challenges, participants from diverse departments and disciplines create a small circle of trust and support for shared discernment. IFF seeks to form a cadre of emergent leaders steeped in the wisdom of the Ignatian tradition, prepared to carry forward Santa Clara’s mission and values. The Forum is sponsored by the Bannan Institute within the Ignatian Center for Jesuit Education. Participation is by invitation from the Provost and Director of the Center. For further information, contact Andre L. Delbecq, the J. Thomas and Kathleen L. McCarthy University Professor who directs the Forum.Latino Faculty GroupThe Latino Faculty Group (LFG) provides support and mentoring opportunities for Latino faculty to enhance their professional careers. It was founded in 2007 to promote a welcoming and friendly environment for Latino faculty, students, and staff and serve as a resource to our University community for promoting and enhancing inclusive excellence. For more information, contact Professor Ana Maria Pineda, RSM. On Our Way OutStaff and Faculty Alliance is a group of LGBTQ staff and faculty who meet for lunch monthly. If you are interested in attending these lunches, contact Ed Schaefer, 408-554-6899.Women of Color NetworkSanta Clara University’s Women of Color Network welcomes all women of color: faculty, staff and students. The mission of the network is to empower and support members of the network and to provide education and awareness to the campus community. The network is a collaborative effort of the Office for Multicultural Learning, Faculty Development and the Women's and Gender Studies Program. Contact Elsa Chen (x1-7055, Political Science) for more information. Women Faculty GroupThe Women Faculty Group (WFG), which has flourished for more than twenty years, includes women faculty from departments throughout the campus community. The WFG meets to discuss topics of interest to women faculty, including issues relevant to their professional and personal lives, the University community, and work-life balance. The WFG has been instrumental in creating programs and policies that provide professional and personal support for all Santa Clara faculty. All women faculty are welcome to join this group of energetic and creative women. For further information please contact a member of the steering committee:
Shut Up and Write!Shut Up and Write is not a writing feedback group, nor do we exchange work or perform critiques. It is merely an appointment to keep. You need to do some writing but have trouble fitting it in between other more pressing demands on your time (meetings! classes! office hours! students who can't make your office hours or drop in to chat!). Shut Up and Write is your excuse. When students clamor for your attention or your chair wants to talk about the paperclip budget it will have to wait because you're on your way to your Shut Up and Write meeting. For more information on how to join the mailing/calendaring list for this group, contact Virginia Matzek, Naomi Levy, or Anne Riconosciuto.
