Rev. Laura Brekke

Director of Religious Diversity

 Hello y’all!

I am the Director of Religious Diversity, and the Protestant Campus Minister. It is a joy to be a part of this wonderful ministry team!
I am originally from Atlanta, GA – a good Southern belle – and am enjoying being a West Coast transplant. I am a Candidate for Ordination in the Presbyterian Church (USA), and a graduate of a Methodist Seminary in Atlanta (Candler School of Theology). I recently served as a solo supply pastor at a small church in rural Alabama. I’ve been lucky enough to live and study in different parts of the world, including in England, Northern Ireland, Cambodia and Guatemala. I love international travel!
Interfaith Engagement is the heart of my ministry. I aim to create safe space to explore the richness of our diversity, to ask tough questions, and to affirm the beauty and value of our individual journeys with God. I believe in questions! Every other Thursday we have Interfaith Dinner Discussions. Come, visit, eat, and wrestle with life’s big (and not so big) questions. I lead an ecumenical Bible Study every Tuesday night, which is an opportunity for Christian students to join together across denominations to study Scripture and grow together.
I am an avid reader (dftba!), aspiring writer, out-of-practice hiker, and lover of folk and bluegrass music. My one year old nephew is the love of my life, and exploring California provides endless opportunities for adventure!
