Ginger Kroft

Woodwind Faculty - Clarinet

Ginger Kroft Barnetson is an active orchestral and chamber musician in the San Francisco Bay Area. 

She is a member of the Monterey Symphony, Fresno Philharmonic, Carmel Bach Festival and Santa Cruz Symphony orchestras. She has performed with groups such as the San Francisco Symphony, Opera and Ballet orchestras and performed under the baton of Pierre Boulez, Michael Tilson Thomas, Jeffrey Tate, Donald Runnicles and Keith Lockhart among others.

In 2003 Ginger joined a select few when she was added to the Vandoren International Artists list. Vandoren is a leading maker of clarinet reeds and accessories.Ginger plays M13-lyre mouthpieces with Traditional reeds. She also performs with the ADORNO ensemble, a chamber music group based in San Francisco dedicated to inter-disciplinary performances.

The collaborations pair contemporary classical music with art genres ranging from visual to literary.  Most recently, ADORNO led a course at San Francisco State University entitled "Kandinsky Listening."  ADORNO is online at www.adornoensemble.org.   Ginger earned a Bachelor of Music from Northwestern University and a Master of Music from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, where she was awarded a Departmental Honor for Distinction in Performance. She maintains membership with the International Clarinet Society, Chamber Music America, Music Teachers¹ Association of California and the American Federation of Musicians.  

A faculty member at Santa Clara University, Ginger also teaches clarinet in the public schools as a Visiting Artist.  She maintains a private clarinet studio for pre-college students; the studio website is www.clarinetstudio.org.
