Why do you want to serve as an International Ambassador at Santa Clara University?
I want to serve as an International Ambassador, because I believe I can provide helpful information to students with regards to preparing for their travels. I also believe I can display a diverse perspective towards English culture, and give lots of fun tips for exploring London.
What were the deciding factors in choosing your study abroad program-location?
I chose to study-abroad in London for the internship experience and the central location in Western Europe by which I could use to travel easily/for cheap.
Describe a defining moment in your abroad experiences and how that experience(s) has affected you personally, intellectually, vocational, spiritually, or academically.
A defining moment in my abroad experience arose whilst I was taking a tour of Brick Lane in East London and learning about all of the cultures that have once inhabited the area. While learning the cultural history of London I gained respect for Europe and started to examine the negative and positive effects of the English class system, which was heavily noticeable during my abroad experience in London, and emphasized by our professors and program coordinators.
What advises, recommendations would you give to prospective study abroad students? In retrospect, how would you prepare differently to maximize the study abroad experience?
I would advise prospective abroad students to save their money and plan out every leg of their journey. Costs have a major effect on the experience as a whole, and if someone can find the perfect mixture of costs and benefits they can have a wonderful abroad experience. Time management is also very important while studying abroad because there are a lot of things to do! I would buy my trip tickets way before I even got to my abroad location.
