Why do you want to serve as an International Ambassador at Santa Clara University?
I loved my abroad experience, and am looking for a way to stay involved with that experience and help others preparing to study abroad.
What were the deciding factors in choosing your study abroad program-location?
I wanted a smaller city where I wouldn't feel like a tourist, and also a country with a lot to see and do.
Describe a defining moment in your abroad experiences and how that experience(s) has affected you personally, intellectually, vocational, spiritually, or academically.
The experience as a whole just made me a lot more open-minded to different people, culture, customs, etc. It also made me infinitely more independent and aware of who I really am. I was proud in that I stuck to my beliefs and values and didn't change them for anybody, but became more open to other ways as well.
What advises, recommendations would you give to prospective study abroad students? In retrospect, how would you prepare differently to maximize the study abroad experience?
I would recommend focusing on yourself and letting the experience shape you. Don't go somewhere just because your best friends are, and don't be afraid if you don't know anyone in your program. It's a great opportunity to branch out and meet people from all over the country that you wouldn't have had the opportunity to meet otherwise
