Consulting CEO in Energy, Mobile Finance, and Remote Sensing
Paul has led creative organizations across sectors ranging from semiconductors, optics and energy to mobile communications and networking. He also has had deep engagement with the complex issues surrounding global social impact, a passion that led him to spend the last 10 years mentoring and supporting social enterprises through the Global Social Benefit Institute.
Paul focuses on the radical convergence of distributed energy, embedded monitoring, and innovative financing in high growth emerging markets and base of the pyramid populations. He leads the development of industry insights and trends for the Center's Energy Map, which captures thought leadership in technology and social solutions in this critical sector.
Growing up in the Bay Area, Paul developed a deep connection with the outdoors and has trekked over 700 miles in the High Sierra Nevada Mountains. His involvement in the local music scene fosters his love for the violin, which he now plays in a Latin Jazz Ensemble. Paul also enjoys exploring off the beaten path as he travels widely both for work and play.
As a lifelong resident of the area, he received his undergraduate engineering degree from U.C. Berkeley and his master's degree and Ph.D. in engineering from Stanford, all in the field of materials science. Paul has served as CEO of several companies including his recent role at Santur Corporation. His executive career also includes service as the Executive Vice President for Coherent, Inc. and Vice President and General Manager for multiple divisions at KLA-Tencor and Applied Materials.
