Art and Art History Building Gift

Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2014

Dear Members of the University Community,

I am happy to announce that Ed Dowd '72, a veteran real-estate investor, financier, and CEO, has donated $12 million to Santa Clara University to help build the new art and art history building on campus. The new Edward M. Dowd Art and Art History Building will further expose the undergraduate community to creativity and innovation. With studio space, classrooms, gallery displays, a sculpture garden, and ample space for the community and visiting scholars and artists to congregate, the new building is part of campus plans for a vibrant arts-focused quadrant of the University. We are very grateful that Mr. Dowd has so generously provided this important foundation upon which Santa Clara will build the new home for art and art history on campus.

For more details about Mr. Dowd's gift and the new building, please see the press release.

Sincerely,

Michael E. Engh, S.J.
President
