Feast of St. Ignatius Celebration
Tuesday, Jul. 12, 2011
Dear Faculty and Staff,
On Friday, July 29, we shall gather for our annual celebration of the feast day of St. Ignatius of Loyola, founder of the Jesuit Order. The liturgy will begin at 11:30 a.m. in the Mission Church, followed immediately with a picnic lunch on the St. Ignatius Lawn between Kenna and Walsh Halls.
Ignatius' unique gift to the Society of Jesus and to the Church was his spirituality inviting men and women to integrate learning into a life of faith. Through education, he sought to build better communities for the greater glory of God, with a mission of love, justice and a special concern for the poor, the sick and the hungry. My hope is that our prayer on Friday lead us to see God, our world, our work, and ourselves in a new way. With Ignatius as our guide, let us work to continue to build inclusive communities grounded in faith and justice.
Please mark you calendars to gather as a community on July 29 and celebrate our Ignatian roots. To add to the special celebration, our new Chancellor, Fr. William Rewak, S.J. will be presiding and offering the homily.
Michael E. Engh, S.J.
