Piano recital will feature SCU's music department chair

SANTA CLARA, Calif.--Sep.30, 2003--Hans Boepple, Santa Clara University piano professor and chair of the music department, will perform at a faculty recital on Oct. 11. at 8 p.m. at SCU's Recital Hall. "The concert is a great opportunity to showcase Boepple's talent and artistry," said Lisa Rademacher, managing director of the Center of Performing Arts.

Boepple has been a professor of music at SCU since 1978 and chair of the music department since 1995. He has been a guest soloist with many distinguished American orchestras including the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Long Beach Symphony, Denver Symphony, Oakland Symphony, Minnesota Orchestra, and the Metropolitan Opera House Orchestra.

"This year, I have gathered three of my favorite piano works, three of the most beautiful pieces ever composed for the instrument," said Boepple. "The Rondo in A minor is one of Mozart's most personal works and the Brahms'Sonata in F minor has a breathtaking scope and nobility. The Four Impromptus, Op. 90, are among Schubert's best known and loved works."

In addition to being awarded first prize in the J.S. Bach International Competition (Washington, D.C.), Boepple is the six time recipient of the Coleman Chamber Music Award (Los Angeles), the Kosciuszko Chopin Competition (New York), and the MTNA National Collegiate Competition.
