Hispanic Sacred Drama Held at Mission Santa Clara

Celebrating our Community's Dream and Achievements-The Miracle of Guadalupe

Santa Clara University and Sacred Heart Parish presented the 16th annual presentation of "La Virgen del Tepeyac: The Apparitions of Our Lady of Guadalupe" on Sunday, Dec. 2. All were invited to be a part of the celebration in drama, dance, and song. The 2 p.m. musical performance was in Spanish with English commentary throughout. Admission is free and open to the public.

The celebration of Our Lady of Guadalupe recalls the apparitions in December 1531 of the mother of the Savior on the Hill of Tepeyac outside of present-day Mexico City. The dramatic representation of “La Virgen del Tepeyac” tells the story of the hardships that Juan Diego endures.

Sponsored by Santa Clara University's Office of the President; the Academic Departments of Anthropology, Ethnic Studies, Religious Studies, Sociology, Theatre & Dance; the Offices of Campus Ministry, Financial Aid, Office for Multicultural Learning; and the Ignatian Center for Jesuit Education.
