Reflections on Sustainability

March 28 - May 21, 2011

How do we explore sustainability? How do we modify our consumer culture so that it doesn't compromise future generations' abilities to meet their needs? What can we do to reconcile the 21st century's conflicting environmental, social, and economic demands?

SCU students have examined this complex issue through their art. The images in this show reveal personal reflection and individual definitions of sustainability.

The exhibit represents student work from the following classes:

  • Beginning Black and White Photography: ARTS 50/150, Renee Billingslea, lecturer, Art & Art History
  • Printmaking: ARTS 35/135, Katherine Aoki, assistant professor, Art & Art History

The exhibit is juried by art students of Francisco (Pancho) Jimenez, lecturer, Art & Art History
