Chikere Agbo

Current Academic Program: Licentiate in Sacred Theology
Areas of Interest: Ecclesiology, Mission
Background & Experience: Chikere Agbo is a Jesuit deacon originally from Nigeria, Africa. He has lived in the Democratic Republic of Congo, England, Zimbabwe, Kenya and the United States. As a member of the Society of Jesus, Chikere is currently pursuing the S.T.L. degree. His focus is on the mission of the African Church according to the Second Synod of Africa.

Sara Brabec

Current Academic Program: Combined Master of Divinity/Master of Arts
Areas of Interest: Ecclesiology, Liturgy, Lay Ministry & Inter-religious Dialogue
Background & Experience: Sara Brabec is from suburban Chicago. She has spent time in Omaha, Nebraska and has lived in the Bay Area for the past four years. Sara has a BA in Theology with a minor in Justice and Peace Studies. Her concentration in her current academic program is Ethics and Social Theory. Sara's thesis will focus on the moral and ethical frameworks of atheism in contemporary society. She has experience in many forms of ministry including hospital chaplaincy, religious education instruction, and retreat direction. She has also led service and social justice initiatives and immersions at both the high school and college levels.

Vinod Fernandes

Current Academic Program: Master of Divinity (recently completed)
Areas of Interest: Ecclesiology, Liturgy, Catholic Education, Inter-religious Dialogue, Inculturation, and the historical development of Vatican II
Background & Experience: Vinod Fernandes is a Jesuit deacon from India. As a member of the Society of Jesus, he belongs to the Jamshedpur Jesuit province in North India. Vinod has lived in the United States for the past three years while completing his theological studies. He has ministered in Jesuit schools and is currently also completing an MA in Catholic School Leadership at the University of San Francisco. In December 2012, Vinod will return to India and be ordained a priest in the Catholic Church.

Evelyn Wong

Current Academic Program: Master of Divinity
Areas of Interest: Universal Call to Holiness, Lay Vocations, Church/Evangelization in the Modern World, & Inter-religious Dialogue
Background & Experience: Evelyn Wong is a member of the Verbum Dei Missionary Fraternity and is originally from Malaysia. Evelyn has also lived in England and the United States. Currently she runs several prayer groups and retreats for both adults and youth. She also ministers to various Chinese Catholic communities in the Bay Area.

David Ford

Current Academic Program: Licentiate in Sacred Theology
Areas of Interest: Eschatology, Ecclesiology and Mission, Christology (with a focusonthe Resurrection of Jesus), and the Spirituality of Loss
Background & Experience: Deacon David was ordained for the Diocese of Sacramento. He andLorie have been married 32 years, raising five children. They serve on the Retreat Team at Christ the King Retreat Center. Davidalso serves the people of St. Teresa of Avila parish, a Spanish speaking community in Auburn, California.Hehasserved as RCIA Director, ministered to the incarcerated at Placer County Jail, and taught in adult faith formation. He is an independent Investment Advisor and loves time with family and the outdoors of the Sierra foothills/Lake Tahoe. His B.A. is in Philosophy andtheconcentration of his S.T.L program at JST is in Systematic Theology.

Alyssa Meis

Current Academic Program: Master of Divinity (recently completed)
Areas of Interest: Religious Life, Liturgy, Social Justice, Universal Call to Holiness, Empowerment of the Laity, Nostra Aetate, and Inter-religious Dialogue
Background & Experience: Alyssa Meis is a Verbum Dei Missionary sister originally from Omaha, Nebraska. She grew up mostly in Visalia, California and has lived in San Francisco for the last ten years. Alyssa completed a BS in Nursing and is currently a registered nurse. Her ministerial experience includes giving retreats and leading prayer groups both in English and Spanish speaking communities. Alyssa continues to minister in communities throughout the Bay Area.

Quang Tran

Current Academic Program: Master of Divinity
Areas of Interest: Universal Call to Holiness, Lay Vocations, Church/Evangelization in the Modern World, & Inter-religious Dialogue
Background & Experience: Quang Tran has been a member of the Society of Jesus for the past ten years. He is originally from New Orleans, Louisiana and arrived in Berkeley after living in Texas, where he taught for two years at Dallas Jesuit College Preparatory. His Bachelor of Arts degree is in English and Philosophy from Fordham University.

Loretta Johnson

Current Academic Program: Master of Arts
Areas of Interest: Ecclesiology, The Dogmatic Constitution on Divine Revelation, Inter-religious Dialogue, & Karl Rahner
Background & Experience: Loretta Johnson arrived at JST after teaching for two years in a public elementary school just outside of New Orleans, Louisiana. Prior to teaching, she competed her undergraduate degree in Theology and Psychology at Georgetown University. Loretta's area of concentration within the MA program is Systematic & Philosophical Theology. Her thesis will explore the style of the Vatican II council document, Dei Verbum.
