While the Bible is an important religious tradition, it also qualifies as a significant and formative cultural text. Who we see, listen to and hold up as models in the Bible, influences who we see, hear and hold up as models in the “text” of our own cultural reality.  Minor characters play a significant but often ignored role in the biblical narratives.  If how we interpret these sacred stories impacts how we interpret the text of our world, ignoring these minor characters may be at our own peril.
