Master of Arts (Common M.A.)
IntroductionAre you interested in the academic study of theology? Would you like to pursue a Master of Arts in theology in one of the largest and most diverse partnerships of seminaries and graduate schools in the United States? The Jesuit School of Theology offers the Master of Arts degree in cooperation with the Graduate Theological Union (GTU). The JST/GTU Common MA degree program is a two-year program that requires students to select a school of affiliation specific to the needs of their proposed program of study. Many distinguished JST faculty members serve as M.A. advisors and/or readers on thesis committees. Students affiliated with JST also have access to a variety of Santa Clara University resources.Unlike most of our other programs, applicants for the Common M.A. apply to the Graduate Theological Union for admission.
