About the Professor

As Associate Professor of Historical and Systematic Theology, Fr. Griener teaches courses in History of Theology (18th and 19th century), Karl Rahner's Philosophy of Religion, Theology of Suffering, God of Jesus Christ and Theological Anthropology.

Professor Griener is a member of the American Academy of Religion, the Catholic Historical Society, and the Catholic Theological Society of America. He has recently published an article titled "The Theology of Suffering in a Narcissistic Culture." His social-political concerns find expression through Amnesty International, the Guatemalan Human Rights Commission, and the Catholic peace organization, Pax Christi.
