  • Department description Heafey Law Library-Circulation is currently looking for an undergrad to help with the Saturday rotation (every other week) closing shift this summer.
    Qualifications (1) Required: SCU undergrad who can work the Saturday rotation closing shift 5-9pm. Incoming freshmen, Sophomore or Junior preferred. Dependability and reliability is absolutely necessary. (2) Required: Pass Library of Congress shelving system test. Work law library holiday hours and school breaks. Ability to lift heavy books and other similar materials onto and off book carts/shelves. Job involves pushing heavy book carts, climbing stairs, reaching, lifting, kneeling, crouching. Handling dusty materials. Self-motivated and detail-oriented individuals that can work in an efficient and personable manner are highly preferable. Excellent communication skills and complete assigned duties with minimal supervision. No library experience necessary, but knowledge of Library of Congress (LC) call number shelving system and library operating system beneficial. Basic computer skills. WORK STUDY preferred.     Duties and responsibilities (1) Provide customer service in person and over the phone concerning library inquiries at the Circulation Desk from the Law School community. (2) Shelve library materials correctly in LC order and in a timely manner, (3) check library materials and conference rooms in/out to law students/faculty/staff, (4) shift materials from one section of the library to another, (5) shelf-read the collection to maintain proper order and neatness. (6) Barcoding and Stamp/Strip materials prior to shelving (7) Monitor Reserve Areas and assist with Closed Course Reserve requests (8) Loose-leaf filing (9) Assist in ILL, Link+ and document delivery project. (10) Help with relocation of library materials to Commerce Plaza. (11) Troubleshoot problems with smart printers, photocopiers and scanners. (12) Assist with deliveries to the Law School Community and University. Maintain library cleanliness. Maintain confidentiality. Assist in special projects and other library duties as needed.
