  • Department description The Food and Agribusiness Institute offers courses to MBA and undergraduate students, hosts events and field trips, sends students on immersion trips to developing countries, and supports undergraduate research.
    Qualifications 2.8 GPA or better Excellent English verbal and written communication skills Creative and a ?think outside the box? mentality Strong computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel Professional, friendly, organized, reliable Ability to prioritize and multitask Ability to work independently and efficiently within deadline Preferred Qualifications: Candidates with experience planning and coordinating events Candidates with experience writing for publication such as blogs, newspapers, magazines, or e-zines Knowledge of additional software including Commonspot, InDesign and Illustrator a strong plus
    Duties and responsibilities Job Description: The Event Planning Assistant will work with the Assistant Director and Administrative Assistant in the Food & Agribusiness Institute (FAI) to identify speakers and develop events and field trips throughout the year for MBAs, undergraduates and alumni. To find out more information about the FAI please visit www.scu.edu/fai Duties and Responsibilities: The Event Planning Assistant?s duties include but are not limited to: ? Collaborating with office staff to identify speakers and topics relevant to FAI ? Planning and designing events including FAI?s spring series (topic TBD) ? Initiating contact with speakers and field trip locations ? Creating and distributing flyers and other electronic and print advertisements for FAI events ? Providing on-site event support ? Arranging for speaker gifts and writing thank you notes to speakers and field trip presenters Additionally, she/he will be asked to complete routine office assignments as needed. Work hours are flexible and determined based on the availability of the student and the needs of the office. Work hours will primarily be during business hours with occasional event support during some evenings and weekends.
