The mission of the International Student Services program in the Global Engagement Office is to promote the education and development of international students to enable them to achieve excellence in their academic and professional goals and to encourage the understanding of diverse cultures and perspectives throughout the University. In keeping with this mission, the Senior International Student Advisor is responsible for proactively engaging with international students, both undergraduate and graduate as well as degree-seeking and non-degree seeking, prior to arrival at SCU, during their time at SCU, and after students have completed their term at the University. S/he will provide outstanding support and guidance related to F-1 and J-1 visa matters; pre-arrival orientation to SCU; academic and cross-cultural adjustment at SCU; CPT/OPT/Academic Training internships and employment, and the overall welfare of international students. The Senior International Student Advisor will serve as a Designated School Official (DSO) with respect to providing required services for international students with F-1 visas. S/he will participate in carrying out effective mechanisms for assessing key elements of the International Student Program at SCU. Currently, SCU serves over 900 international students and visiting scholars each year. This is a full-time (1.0 FTE) regular position.
