WINTER QUARTER IS HERE!

At SCU, there are many experiences designed to help your student grow. The Housing Office works in collaboration with the Office of Residence Life to provide a model living-learning environment for our residents. The Residence Life Team along with the Housing Team include professional and paraprofessional staff and faculty who strive to enhance your student's university experience. Our goal is to provide a living/learning environment that encourages academic achievement and student development.

Coming Up:

  • 2012 - 2013 On-Campus Housing Application opens for current Sophomores and Juniors
    • On Wednesday, January 11th at 3:30pm the on-campus application opens to current Sophomores and Juniors (The application opens to current freshmen on March 1st).
  • Sophomore and Junior roommate pairing social
    • If your student is looking for on-campus housing roommates for the 2012-2013 academic year, encourage them to attend this event - January 9th from 7:00 - 8:30pm in Kennedy Commons. There will be a second social in late February.

Dining Plan Changes : Students interested in changing their dining plan for Spring Quarter must do so by February, 17, 2012. The form is available on our website under the "Canceling or Changing Housing" link. No changes will be accepted outside of the open periods or once a quarter has started. Once a change had been made, it is made through the end of academic year unless changed again during another Dining Plan Change period.

Student Leadership Positions

Assistant Resident Directors (ARDs) and Assistant Area Coordinator(AACs) Applications are currently available and are due Tuesday, January 10th by 4:00pm.

Assistant Resident Directors (ARDs) assist the Resident Directors (RD) and serve as a member of a Residential Learning Community (RLC) Leadership Team. ARDs assist with the development and implementation of a student development program that reflects the Jesuit mission of the University, namely development of the whole person. ARDs contribute to the development of a community of scholars in their RLC by assisting the academic and personal development of residents and Community Facilitators (CFs), advising Community Council, supervising service desk operations, assisting in RLC operations, and by promoting and supporting an inclusive environment in which differences are thoughtfully explored. Additionally, ARDs are expected to know and uphold University policies and community standards, effectively respond to and manage emergency / crisis situations via participation in campus-wide duty rotation, work collaboratively to build community, mentor staff, and role model responsible citizenship in the RLC and on and off campus. The following document describes the job responsibilities, qualifications and conditions of employment, and compensation for the ARD position. Once assigned to an RLC, the expectations of the ARD role may be adapted to reflect the different needs, focus/theme, and unique character of the RLC. Students selected for the ARDposition are expected to complete formation, as outlined by the Resident Director, including activities during Spring and Fall Formation. students can apply for 2012 - 2013 on-campus housing via eCampus. Current freshmen will be eligible to live in the new Alpha community.  Priority will be given to current Alpha community members.

Assistant Area Coordinators (AACs) assist the Area Coordinator (AC) and serve as part of the University Villas Staff Team. AACs contribute to the development of the community by assisting with the personal development of residents and student staff. AACs supervise Neighborhood Representatives, service desk operations, advise the Neighborhood Council, assist with building operations, and promote and support an inclusive environment in which differences are thoughtfully explored. Additionally, AACs are expected to know and uphold University policies and community standards, effectively respond to and manage emergency/crisis situations via participation in campus-wide duty rotation, work collaboratively to build community, mentor staff, and role model responsible citizenship in the community and on and off campus.
