Dear Applicant:

The Student Staff Selection Committee of the Office of Residence Life is pleased that you are interested in participating in the Student Staff Selection Process for the positions of Community Facilitator (CF) and/or Neighborhood Representative (NR) for the 2013-2014 academic year. We are looking for qualified candidates from various backgrounds, cultures, and lifestyles with the intention of selecting individuals that can meet the needs of a diverse student population and an integrated education environment.

Below you will find information about the Student Staff Selection Process and all that you need to apply for the CF and/or NR positions. While striving to hire the most qualified candidates, we also hope this will be an educational opportunity for you to gain more knowledge about the Residential Learning Communities, the CF and/or NR positions, and yourself.

Completed applications are due Friday, January 18, 2013, at 5:00pm, and will ONLY be accepted online.

Overview of Applicant Requirements:

  1. Review CF and/or NR Job Descriptions as updated for the 2013-2014 academic year for information on application qualifications, job responsibilities, conditions of employment, and compensation.

  2. Attend one of the Student Staff Selection Process Information Sessions listed below. Those who attend will have the opportunity to learn more about the position and ask questions of current staff members. Attendance is highly encouraged but not mandatory.All applicants are welcome to attend any of the below sessions based on your availability.

  • Tuesday, January 8, 2013 8:00pm-10:00pm Graham Commons

  • Thursday, January 10, 2013 6:00pm-8:00pm Kennedy Commons

  1. Complete the online application for student leaders, composed of the below sections, at:http://scu.edu/survey/?s=1187.The application will be available on Monday, January 7, 2013.

  • Complete all of the reflection essay prompts below:

    • Tell us about yourself and what makes you uniquely qualified to be a student staff member in the Office of Residence Life.

    • What do you hope to gain both personally and professionally from this position?

    • Reflecting on your time here at Santa Clara, share an experience with us that has prepared you or motivated you to serve in this position of student leadership.

  • Provide at least two references and contact information (phone number and email address) that we may use to seek more information about your candidacy.

  • Upload a resume describing your previous community involvement, leadership experience, and work/volunteer experiences.

  1. Participate in Group Process Session – a group interview/experience that will take place on Saturday, January 26, 2013 between 9:00am – 12:15pm.After you have submitted your application, you will receive more information including the location and specific time you should arrive, but please put this date and time on your calendar now as it is MANDATORY.

  2. Complete individual interviews with Leadership Teams, if invited. After the Group Process Session, candidates will be contacted to attend additional interviews as requested and scheduled by RLC Leadership teams.These interviews may take place anytime between Monday, January 28 and Wednesday, February 20, 2013. Be sure to check your SCU email frequently, as this is only method in which you will be contacted. Not all candidates will get individual interviews; your only guaranteed interview is the Group Process Session.

  1. Candidate Notification Letters will be sent via SCU email on Friday, February 22, 2013.  In an effort to keep you informed about our process, if you are not offered an individual RLC or community interview, you may receive an email before that time indicating you are no longer being considered as a candidate for a student staff position.

Completed applications are due Friday, January 18, 2013, at 5:00pm, and willONLY be accepted online.

  • All aspects of the application must be complete in order to be considered for a student staff position. Incomplete applications will NOT be considered.

  • Any part of the applications submitted after5:00pm on Friday, January 13, 2013, willNOT be accepted.

  • In addition, please note that all applicants must have a GPA of 2.50 or above at the time of application.
