Community Facilitator, Neighborhood Representative, and RLCA Executive Council

The Student Staff Selection Committee of the Office of Residence Life is pleased that you are interested in participating in the Student Staff Selection Process for the positions of Community Facilitator (CF), Neighborhood Representative (NR), and/or Residential Learning Community Association Executive Council (RLCA) for the 2014-2015 academic year. We are seeking candidates that can meet the needs of a diverse student population and an integrated education environment. While striving to hire the most qualified candidates, we also hope this will be an educational opportunity for you.

  1. Review CF, NR, and/or RLCA Job Descriptions as updated for the 2014-2015 academic year for information on application qualifications, job responsibilities, conditions of employment, and compensation:

    Please Note: New for 2014-2015, all new CF and NR hires will be required to register for, attend, and complete all assignments with a "passing" grade for Residence Life Leadership Course in Spring 2014. This class will be offered at two times: M,W from 3:30-4:35 PM and T,Th from 3:50-4:55 PM. 

  2. Attend one of the Student Staff Selection Process Information Sessions. Those who attend will have the opportunity to learn more about the position and ask questions of current staff members. Attendance is highly encouraged but not mandatory.

  1. Complete the online application for student leaders, here. The application will be available on Tuesday, December 3, 2013 and will include the following sections:

  • Respond to reflection questions
  • Provide at least two references including a phone number and email address for each, that we may use to seek more information about your candidacy.
  • Upload a resume describing your previous community involvement, leadership experience, and work/volunteer experience. Please visit the SCU Career Center website for assistance in completing your resume:
Completed applications are due on Friday, January 17, 2014 at 5:00 pm, and will ONLY be accepted online.
  • All aspects of the application must be complete in order to be considered for a student staff position.
  • Any part of the application submitted after 5:00pm on Friday, January 17, 2014 will NOT be accepted.
  1. Participate in Group Process Session – a group interview/experience that will take place on Saturday, January 25, 2014 between 8:30am – 12:15pm (CF and/or NR Positions ONLY) and/or Wednesday, February 5, 2014 between 7:30pm - 9:00pm (RLCA ONLY). After you have submitted your application, you will receive more information including the location and specific time you should arrive, but please put this date and time on your calendar now, as sessions are MANDATORY.

  2. Complete individual interviews with Leadership Teams, if invited. After the Group Process Session, candidates will be contacted to attend additional interviews as requested and scheduled by Leadership teams.These interviews may take place anytime between Monday, January 27 and Wednesday, February 19, 2014. Be sure to check your SCU email frequently, as this is only method in which you will be contacted. Not all candidates will get individual interviews; your only guaranteed interview is the Group Process Session.

  1. Candidate Notification Letters will be sent via SCU email on Wednesday, February 26, 2014.  In an effort to keep you informed about our process, if you are not offered an individual interview, you may receive an email before that time indicating you are no longer being considered as a candidate for a student staff position.
