This is the case for both working-class and middle-class families. The most representative family form in the U.S. is the dual-earner family. What are the characteristics of contemporary dual-earner work and family life? Which gender theories and processes are central to the contemporary dual-earner story? This presentation will detail the Center’s Science and Technology Studies academic minor; our workshops and forums with the Silicon Valley community; the Center’s role in the Technology Benefiting Humanity international awards; and the Global Social Benefit Incubator (GSBI) educational program for entrepreneurs from underserved populations throughout the world. | | Health Care Ethics - A Unique Internship Opportunity Sr. Joan Marie Steadman, CSC, Associate Director of Health Care Ethics and Health Care Ethics Internship Program Coordinator, Markkula Center for Applied Ethics This unique program, which has been featured in The Chronicle of Higher Education, allows Santa Clara students the opportunity to observe in a clinical setting, talk with health care professionals about the ethical issues they face day to day, and reflect upon their experience of the ethics side of medicine. Catch a glimpse of the components and value of this program. Health Care Ethics interns will share what the program means to them as they strive to become leaders who are competent, ethical, and compassionate. University Professor, Department of History and University Historian Learn about the history of Santa Clara University, from its founding in 1851 on the grounds of Mission Santa Clara to today. Professor McKevitt has been at SCU since 1975 and co-authored Serving the Intellect, Touching the Heart, a pictorial history of SCU’’s first 150 years, with Professor George Giacomini. | | Anatomy of an Exhibition: Teaching and Learning with the Anderson Collection Andrea Pappas, Associate Professor, Art History Discover how an exhibition is born and how it is an opportunity for student learning—everything from the artists' bios for the exhibition catalog to the wall labels and the educational materials for the student-run Explore With Me Docent Program were created by Santa Clara students in Art History 197: Exhibiting American Art of the 1960s.
