The University's 2004-05 operating budget includes money for more fulltime faculty and 3 percent merit raises.

The SCU Board of Trustees adopted a budget on Feb. 20 that will increase undergraduate tuition 7 percent.

In a speech at the Mission Church on Feb. 24, President Paul Locatelli, S.J. praised faculty accomplishments, and renewed the University's commitment to diversity, tolerance and excellence.

"We are a diverse learning community striving for greater excellence in teaching and learning, scholarship and research, service to society and fashioning a more humane and just world. We have much to be proud of and much still to accomplish."
