School of Law and Leavey School of Business make U.S. News 'top' lists
Graduate school rankings place law in top 100, and business in 'Top Business Schools' list
The annual U.S. News & World Report graduate school rankings published this month included SCU's Leavey School of Business in the "Top Business Schools" list for the first time, and kept the School of Law in the top 100 for the second year in a row.
The magazine also ranked the law school as one of the five most diverse programs in the country.
“I am extremely pleased that the law school is once again ranked as a top-tier program,” said Donald Polden, law school dean. “The high ranking is a reflection of our outstanding faculty, which includes many nationally-recognized legal scholars, dedicated staff, and our intellectually rigorous program,” Polden added.
The survey also ranked SCU’s intellectual property and high technology law program as one of the top 15 in the country. The SCU intellectual property program offers specialty certificates in high tech law and international high tech law, as well as a master’s program in intellectual property law.
Part-time MBA program in top 10
In a separate ranking by the magazine of the nation’s part-time MBA programs, SCU vaulted into the list of top 10 schools for the first time.
The overall business school rankings including the Leavey School of Business also reported that SCU’s business school, among all business schools nationwide, received the 14th highest score in a national survey of business recruiters.
“The distinguished scholarship of our faculty, along with the quality of our students, and the recognition of our many alumni who lead dynamic, profitable organizations contribute to the growing recognition for the Leavey School of Business,” said Barry Z. Posner, dean of the business school and professor of leadership.
“As a Jesuit business school,' he said, "we are committed to quality instruction and rigorous inquiry conducted within an ethical framework."
The magazine was published online on April 2, in the magazine on April 5, when the semi-annual "Best Graduate Schools" softcover book was published.
