Business and Organizational Ethics Partnership

Through the Business and Organizational Ethics Partnership, companies in sectors from information technology to health care join together with distinguished academics and subject matter experts to explore questions, challenges and opportunities faced by organizations in managing their ethics and compliance programs.

Programs on Corporate Governance

In collaboration with Morrison & Foerster, Wilson Sonsini, and the National Association of Corporate Directors Silicon Valley, the Center offers regular programs of special interest to general counsels, corporate board members, and others responsible for corporate governance. An annual lecture by a justice of the Delaware Court explores recent decisions on governance from America’s most important source of corporate law.

Consulting and Public Speaking

Center Executive Director Kirk O. Hanson is a well-known commentator on business and organizational ethics. He regularly addresses groups in such industries as financial services, health care, and corporate affairs. Executive-in-Residence James Balassone consults with local firms on developing and implementing business ethics practices and programs.

Staff

Kirk O. Hanson, Center executive director, is SCU's John Courtney Murray S.J. University Professor of Social Ethics. He is one of the pioneers of the business ethics field and taught business ethics at the Stanford Graduate School of Business for 23 years.
Jim Balassone,executive-in-residence, has held significant leadership positions in sales, marketing, and business development at companies including Hitachi Data Systems and IBM. He has worked with companies on implementing campaigns for improving ethical culture
