Tau Beta Pi (Engineering Honor Society)

Tau Beta Pi, a national engineering honor society, was founded at Lehigh University in 1885. The Santa Clara chapter was established in 1956. The purpose of the society is to offer appropriate recognition of superior scholarship and exemplary character in engineering students. Engineering seniors in the top 1/5th of their class and juniors in the top 1/8th of their class are eligible. These students must demonstrate exemplary character, personal integrity, breadth of interest, adaptability, and unselfish activity. Upon membership, students are expected to uphold Tau Beta Pi ideals of integrity and excellence in engineering and hold as role models for other engineering students. Within the upcoming year, Tau Beta Pi wishes to increase membership, member participation, and school-wide recognition.
