As such, mechanical engineers are a fundamental resource for most industries, and work in interdisciplinary environments. Mechanical engineers must have the ability to see broad perspectives across disciplines and industries, and yet solve very local and specialized problems.

 Congratulations to the 2009 Solar Decathlon Team!
Team California, comprised of students from all disciplines at Santa Clara University and California College of the Arts took Third Place in the U.S. Department of Energy's 2009 Solar Decathlon Competition. Team California finished 3rd overall, taking 1st Place awards in both the Architecture and Communications categories. Congratulations to all those students who worked tirelessly on this project.
