To apply, you will need to submit the Engineering Graduate Services' On-Line Application (Apply online for BS/MS Engineering Degree). The application fee and the GRE General Test requirement are waived. For specific department requirements, please consult the Requirements for BS/MS Program.

Your formal admission into the Master of Science program will not become effective until the quarter following your B.S. conferral (excluding summer quarter). Upon notification of your acceptance into the Graduate Program from the Graduate Services Office, you will be able to take graduate level courses beginning in your senior year. You will need 45 units of coursework for the M.S. degree beyond the bachelor's degree requirements. All courses that you take to count toward the M.S. degree must be approved by your faculty advisor on the Program of Studies form (pdf) before your course registration takes place. PLEASE NOTE: Computer Engineering students will complete the Waiver/Substitution form (pdf) in place of the Program of Studies required by the Electrical and Mechanical Engineering departments.

Please note that you will not be able to sign up for courses through Ecampus until your B.S. degree is conferred and your student status is officially changed to Graduate Student. In the interim, you can do the following to register for courses in your senior year (upon notification of your acceptance into the Graduate Program):

  1. Complete the Permission to Take Graduate or Undergraduate Course form (pdf).
  2. Have it signed by both your faculty advisor and the Assistant Director of Graduate Services.
  3. Bring the approved form to the Student Records Office for official course registration.
