Title: Chair and Dean's Executive Professor
Frank Barone is a highly experienced, senior executive, with extensive background in semiconductor integrated circuit product development and manufacturing operations. He has held senior executive positions with Advanced Micro Devices, National Semiconductor Corporation, and Motorola Inc. In addition, he spent five years as Chief Operating Officer of Vantis Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of Advanced Micro Devices. He has successfully staffed and managed large multi-site, integrated product development teams with members in the United States, Europe, and Asia.
Barone holds several patents in integrated circuit process technology. He is a member of Tau Beta Pi and Eta Kappa Nu engineering honor societies as well as a member of Sigma Xi, the international honor society of research scientists and engineers. He is a life member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers and has previously served on the Marquette University College of Engineering National Advisory Council as well as chair of the Electrical Engineering Advisory Board at Santa Clara.
Following his retirement from the semiconductor industry in 2006, Barone joined the faculty of Santa Clara University as an adjunct professor in the graduate school of engineering where he lectures on systems engineering management. He also chairs the advisory board of the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Santa Clara University.
Frank and his wife Barbara have four children, two of which graduated from Santa Clara.
