If there were to be a single goal for the The Engineering Management and Leadership Program, it would be the development of Technical Product Managers.  This is a manager who is comfortable with both technical and business issues, and can coordinate the development of a product using the inputs from a team of experts.  To this end, half of the degree unit requirements are in technical course offerings.  The other half of the program is in Engineering Management offerings, including up to 9 units selected from the School of Business, MBA program.  A frequently encountered question is:  Why not an MBA?  We reply that this is a career choice.  The MBA is for those who wish to gravitate into a general business career.  The EMGT program is for those who wish to continue to build on their technical preparation and experience.  With a significant emphasis on Project Management, and the Leadership of Group-Problem-Solving (teams), we believe the development of these personal skills will help regardless of what lies in the future.
