What are CEUs or CE hours?

A "CEU" is a continuing education unit. CEU's are awarded for all workshops listed in this catalog. One CEU represents 10 hours of organized learning, which includes class time, projects, or other approved activities. A CEU is intended primarily for professional development and/or personal growth and is applicable to some licensing renewal requirements. Our workshops also award CE hours, which are hours that count toward professional license requirements. Neither CE nor CEU credit are applicable to any of Santa Clara's degree programs. Please select the Professional Association Requirements link to view a list of approved associations.

How will I know I’m officially registered?

When CPD receives your registration form and payment, we will mail you an enrollment confirmation and receipt of payment (1) week before the class begins.

May I reserve a spot without paying?

No, registrants cannot be enrolled into a course until the CPD office receives full payment.

Is there a course fee refund policy?

You are eligible for a full refund if a workshop is canceled. If you need to drop a workshop, you must contact the CPD office 24 hours in advance to be eligible for a full refund. Call the CPD office at (408) 551-1981. A refund check will automatically be mailed to you within three weeks of notification. Drops requested less than 24 hours before or on the day of the workshop will be credited toward another course offered in the same term.

What happens if my course is canceled?

If your course is canceled, you will be contacted by phone or e-mail one week before the class start date and you will be eligible for a full refund.

Will I receive verification of completion if I attend a workshop?

An official grade report verifying your completion in the workshop will automatically be mailed to you within three weeks after the course has ended.

Is tape recording permitted?

You may not tape-record a workshop session unless the director of CPD and the presenter give you written permission prior to the beginning of the workshop.

Will my credit hours automatically be reported to the MCEP?

The Santa Clara University Center for Professional Development (CPD) is an APA approved sponsor of continuing education for psychologists. Therefore, psychologists receiving continuing education credits from CPD will need to report those credits to the MCEP Accrediting Agency by submitting the designated form and paying the required fee.

Does CPD offer discounts on any courses?
