CPD Education: EDUC x601: Health Education for Teachers

This course meets the SB 2042 Standard 10 requirements for the California Teacher Credential. The topics covered include:

  • The effects of student health, safety, and accident prevention on student learning.
  • How decisions and common behaviors of children and adolescents can enhance or compromise their health and safety.
  • Common chronic and communicable diseases of children and adolescents, and how to make referrals when these diseases are recognizable at school.
  • Effective strategies for encouraging the healthy nutrition of children and youth.
  • Physiological and sociological effects of alcohol, narcotics, drugs and tobacco and ways to identify, refer, and support students and their families who may be at risk of physical, psychological, emotional, or social health problems.

This course is 28 hours in length and is held on the following dates and times.
