Admission Requirements

Application Checklist

To apply to the School of Education and Counseling Psychology, you will need to complete an online application form and submit specific materials directly to the School.

We currently utilize a rolling admissions process that is based on a space-available basis for each quarter. Therefore, we strongly encourage applicants to submit their applications early. 

NOTE: Due to high enrollment in Counseling Psychology programs, we are currently running a waitlist system where all the application files are reviewed after the deadline and applicants will be informed of the decision with in 3 weeks after the quarter deadline they have applied for.

**Please note, we no longer require the GRE for admissions.

Step 1: Complete and submit the Online Application Form*

The online application includes the Statement of Purpose (click here for instructions) and $50 application fee. *Once your online application is submitted, you'll be given access to track the status of your admission documents.

Note: Counseling Psychology applicants must address to their volunteer experience and commitment to multiculturalism, social justice and diversity in their statement of purpose.

Step 2: Submit required documents directly to ECP**

 Current resume or CV
Counseling Psychology applicants must detail evidence of work or volunteer experience broadly related to human services (child development, personal adjustment, issues of emotional wellness, crisis hotlines, etc.)

Two copies of official transcripts from every post-secondary institution attended (regardless of the length of study or the number of courses taken).

Two letters of recommendation
Letters must address academic and/or professional qualifications (not just personal character) and may not be from family or friends. 
  • We do not require a recommendation form, instead recommenders may do one of the following:
    • email their letter directly to 
    • mail their letter directly to our School (our address is indicated below)
    • mail their letter directly to you, the applicant, who can then mail to our School (our address is indicated below) Please note, if you choose this method, the recommendation letter must be sealed in an envelope and signed by the recommender across the flap.
