Staff | Jon earned a BS from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst, and an MS in College Student Personnel from Indiana University, Bloomington. He began his work at Santa Clara University in 1993 and is responsible for the Center's continued growth and development and day-to-day management including supervision of staff and programs. In that role, Jon is the advisor to Associated Students of Santa Clara University (ASSCU) and is also responsible for managing finances, facilities, and assets. He serves as the primary contact for the Center's leadership and advising programs and provides financial and business assistance to the Chartered Student Organizations and Clubs. Health and wellness, leadership education, and sensitivity training are his areas of professional interest. | | Rebecca advises the campus literary magazine, The Santa Clara Review. She grew up in Albany, Georgia. She received a B.A. in English and Art History from Newcomb College of Tulane University in 1997 and attended the University of East Anglia in Norwich, Great Britain. In 2001, Rebecca received a M.F.A. in Creative Writing from Indiana University. From 2001 to 2003, she was a Wallace Stegner Fellow in Poetry at Stanford University. Her first book of poems, Cottonlandia, winner of the 2004 Juniper Prize, was published in April 2005 from the University of Massachusetts Press. Individual poems have been published in Poetry, Poetry Daily, Conjunctions online, Virginia Quarterly Review, Pleiades, and other journals. She also writes creative nonfiction. | | As Administrative Assistant, Joni supports the CSL Staff. She also assists the student organizations and clubs with the event planning process. Joni is a graduate of San Jose State University and is married with two children. She enjoys spending time with her family and friends. In her time away from work, Joni can often be found attending one of her children's sporting events or reading a good book. | | Ericka received her BS in Management from SCU in 2001 and her MA in Ethnic Studies from San Francisco State University in 2007. She is responsible for advising the Activities Programming Board (APB), the Multicultural Center (MCC) and the nine resident MCC clubs. Additionally, she oversees eLEADER, the Center's web-based leadership program, and chartered student organizations (CSO) in-service training. Her professional interests surround issues concerning race, ethnicity and examining how the intersectionality of ones multiple identities impact their life. | | As a graduate of Santa Clara in the class of 2007, Sarah has gone on to serve as the Presidential Fellow in Student Life. In her position, she is the manager of The Bronco, advisor to the over 80 registered clubs, and supervisor of e-Prep’d. During her time as an undergraduate, Sarah double majored in English and Communications and was involved in the Activities Programming Board and The Santa Clara. | | Bill works half-time in the Center for Student Leadership and is responsible for the Outdoor Leadership Expedition (OLE), the Leadership Poster Series, the magis Leadership Retreat, and the 2008 Leader in Residence program. Also, he teaches in the Emerging Leaders Program. He earned a BA in Psychology from Carthage College and an MEd in Community Counseling from Kent State University. He is currently pursuing an MA in Ethics and Social Theory from the Graduate Theological Union. His professional/academic interests include social justice issues, theological exploration of ethics, discovery of personal meaning, and active global citizenship. His personal interests include playing and watching sports, listening to live and recorded music, reading good books, keeping up on current events, viewing movies, cooking, and hanging out with his wife. | | Tam is responsible for advising the Santa Clara Community Action Program. She is also responsible for coordinating and teaching in the Emerging Leaders Program and serves as the supervisor of the Center's Leadership Development Assistants. She earned her BS in Psychology from Santa Clara University, class of 2001. Her professional interests include leadership education, diversity training, issues related to mental health, and intercultural communication. | | Arcelia works with the chartered student organizations and registered clubs. In her role as Administrative Assistant, she supports the staff and student organizations and assists with budget management issues. Her personal interests include leadership education, reading, cooking, outdoor activities, and issues related to social justice. | | Gordon advises The Santa Clara newspaper, The Redwood yearbook, and KSCU, the campus radio station. He is also a faculty member in the Communication Department, where he teaches journalism courses. He earned an MA in Journalism from the University of Missouri and an MA in Victorian Literature from the University of Nottingham. As a freelance journalist and former staff writer at SF Weekly in San Francisco, he has won numerous honors for his writing, including an Investigative Reporters and Editors award for Magazine Writing, a Peninsula Press Club 1st place award for feature writing, and an Arkansas Journalism Distinguished Service award. | |
