About CSL - ASSCU Club Registration Process

Center for Student Leadership

Club Registration

Santa Clara University has delegated the responsibility of registering student Clubs to the Associated Students of Santa Clara University (ASSCU). The Student Affairs Committee (SAC) of the ASSCU Student Senate registers Clubs, keeps records (e.g. constitution/bylaws, membership rosters, and contact information), and allocates student activity fees.

The Center for Student Leadership advises ASSCU and Clubs, provides leadership development resources, supports program planning, and is the signatory authority for all agreements and contracts. ASSCU and the Center jointly plan and deliver the mandatory Fall and Spring Club and Class Conferences.

In addiition to working with ASSCU and the Center, Clubs are required to have a Faculty/Staff Advisor who can provide expertise in the development and promotion of the Club's specific purpose and support the organization's leadership.

Registration Process

Online Club Registration

In the Fall, new and returning Clubs must attend the Club and Class Conference and then submit their registration. New this year, organizations must submit their registration information online at www.scu.edu/clubs. Upon completion of the online form, Clubs must also submit the organization's Officer Agreement form, Faculty/Staff Advisor form, a Quarterly Activity and Budget Summary, and a Constitution and Bylaws (if existing versions are more than three years old). After both online registration and all documents have been submitted, the SAC will review them, and recommendation for registration will be presented to the Student Senate. Withn one week of submission, a notice of approval will be put in the Club's mailbox.

Clubs wanting to register after the Fall Club and Class Conference must meet with the CSL Club advisor.

As Clubs develop over the course of an academic year, their registration status may change. Clubs are registered using a two-tier process:

Tier One: Registered

Tier Two: Active

In order to either reach or maintain Active status, Clubs must complete a Quarterly Activity and Budget Summary.

Questions about the process should be directed to the chair of the SAC and the Club advisor.
