Performance Spaces

The Music & Dance Building has a 250-seat Recital Hall, where student, faculty, and guest recitals, as well as many choral and chamber music performances, are held. The historic Mission Church, founded in 1851, also serves as performance space for the Santa Clara University Orchestra and Choral Ensembles.

Recital Hall
Electronic Media Lab

The Piano Class Lab has sixteen Roland electronic pianos (with headsets) for piano classes. The lab is also available to students for practice during regular Listening Lab hours.

The Computer/MIDI Lab has ten Apple PowerMacintosh workstations for use by students enrolled in theory and composition courses. Other Santa Clara students wishing to use the lab may make arrangements with the Listening Lab attendant.

Music Lab
Libraries and Collections

The Listening Lab holds the department's CD, LP, cassette, videocollections, and study scores (for use while listening to recordings). Students enrolled in music courses use the individual listening stations for class assignments. Many music classes also have duplicate listening materials available to students in Varsi Media Lab, across campus.

Computerized listings of these recordings are available on OSCAR (the university library´s computer system.) Students may search for recordings from any OSCAR terminal, including one located in the Lab. The Listening Lab also keeps an ongoing archive of cassette recordings by departmental faculty, students, ensembles, and guest artists.

Orradre Library is the main campus library, holding the majority of music scores, books, and periodical publications.

The Choral Library is stored in the music building. Materials in the choral library are available to students for research and study.
