Letter from the ProvostDear Graduate, Congratulations. You have accomplished your goal of becoming a college graduate. Each of you has a unique story to tell, yet, in your four years at Santa Clara, all of you have grown intellectually, socially, and spiritually. We are very proud of you. We are particularly proud of the leadership you will bring to your communities and to the world at large. During your time at Santa Clara the world has become a more uncertain place in many respects and your ability to lead with competence, conscience, and compassion will be perhaps more crucial than for graduates in earlier times. You graduate with the Jesuit advantage and we have enormous faith in what this can bring to the world through you. As you go forth, remember that Santa Clara is your home. You will always be welcome here. Stay in touch. Return often to talk with special professors, marvel in the beauty of our campus, meet with current students, or meditate in the Mission gardens. In the coming years, give us your advice and share your struggles, triumphs, and visions for further advancing social justice--a justice that comes from and respects one’s faith within a plurality of cultures and faiths. Although you will be far from the campus, you remain in our hearts and our prayers and in our hopes for what your SCU education can bring to your life.
With warmest and best wishes,
Lucia Albino Gilbert, Ph.D. Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs |
