Mardi Gras!

Before we fast, we feast! Join us on Tuesday, March 4 for our eighth annual Mardi Gras party. Our sole purpose during this celebration is to have fun, so come join us and unwind for a few minutes. We'll have pancakes and other fixins. And don't miss the pancake flip-off between Fr. Jack and his staff!

Lent 2014

The Catholic observance of Lent begins on Ash Wednesday, March 5. There are five opportunities to receive ashes on that day. There are many opportunities to deepen your prayer through Lenten offerings from Campus Ministry, from Facebook posts and the Reaching Within Blog to sharing a meal with friends to praying with others as you walk across campus.

Lent Highlights

Ash Wednesday services 7:30 am, 12:05, 4, 6, and 9 pm

Ash Wednesday

Ash Wednesday is the beginning of the season of Lent. It reminds us that "you are dust and unto dust you shall return." At all of our services there will be an opportunity to receive ashes from a minister. Catholic liturgies are at 7:30 am, 12:05 pm, 6 pm, and 9 pm. A shared Catholic and Protestant service is at 4 pm.

Stations of the Cross

Stations of the Cross

March 11: A simple walk around the stations inside the Mission Church will invite you to reflect on Jesus' life and death.
April 9: An annual opportunity to connect your own story to the story of Jesus' passion. Journey through campus with friends and listen to peer reflections about Jesus' path to the cross.

The Lord's Prayer

The Lord's Prayer Protestant Lenten Group

This five-week long study of the Lord's Prayer from a Protestant perspective meets on Mondays at 5:30 pm in the Campus Ministry office small conference room.

Reconciliation services

Sacrament of Reconciliation

In addition to the regularly scheduled Monday opportunity to celebrate the Sacrament of Reconciliation at 11:30 a.m., the Sacrament of Reconciliation will also be available on Tuesdays at 8:00 p.m. in the Reconciliation Room of the Mission Church (with the exception of March 25). A communal service will be held on April 8 at 8 p.m.

Simple Meals

A time to share a meal with friends, discuss your faith journey, and learn something new. This year Xavier RLC's resident minister will host these meals with a focus on Catholic Relief Services' Rice Bowl. Please contact her for specific information.

Sacraments of Initiation

Sacraments of Initiation

Please pray for those who will be fully initiated in the Catholic Church at the Easter Vigil: Jerry Chapman, Briana Jones, and Rico Mok.

Catholic Relief Services Rice Bowl

Pray with your families and faith communities, fast in solidarity with those who hunger, learn about our global community, and give to those in need. Collection boxes will be available at Sunday masses this weekend, as well as in the RLCs.

We have a small number of devotional prayer resources available for students. You can pick them up at Sunday evening Masses on March 2 or in the Campus Ministry office anytime thereafter.

We will post daily food for thought, prayer, and action on our Facebook page. Don't miss helpful daily reminders of the season as you grow in your spirituality.
