Women's and Gender Studies Internships

The WGST Program coordinates internship opportunities for our majors and minors. These positions allow our students to gain experience working on gender-related issues in the non-profit world, while also earning course credit.

ACLU of Northern California works to extend Constitutional freedoms to populations who have traditionally been denied their rights, e.g., people of color; LGBT people; women; mental-health patients; prisoners; people with disabilities; and the poor.

Aunt Lute is a not-for-profit, multicultural women's publishing house in San Francisco.
The Bay Area Women’s Sports Initiative

The Bay Area Women’s Sports Initiative works to build a long-lasting and meaningful platform for women in sports by connecting women athletes with girls and women in low-income communities in ways that positively impact their lives.
Fat!So?

Fat!So?, located in San Francisco, involves local/national change-making and weight diversity trainings, among other undertakings, to end weight-based stereotypes, prejudice, and discrimination via outrageously charming and charmingly outrageous means.
GSA Network

The GSA Network, located in San Francisco, is a youth-led organization connecting school-based Gay-Straight Alliances to each other and community resources, focusing on peer support and leadership development to create safe schools.
GLBT Historical Society

The GLBT Historical Society, located in San Francisco, is an archive that collects, preserves, and interprets the history of GLBT people and the communities that support them.
Girls for a Change

Girls for a Change is a national organization that provides teen girls with adult female role models, leadership training and the inspiration to work together in teams to solve persistent societal problems in their communities.
Santa Clara County Office of Women's Advocacy

The Santa Clara County Office of Women's Advocacy addresses new and emerging issues affecting women and girls which pose major challenges for our community. OWA promotes programs and activities and works to enhance existing cooperative efforts among local agencies.
YWCA Rape Crisis Center

The YWCA Rape Crisis Center helps residents of Silicon Valley to minimize the traumatic aftermath of sexual assault by providing a 24-hour crisis hotline, immediate crisis counseling and assistance, information and referrals, and accompaniment services to medical, police, and court facilities.
