Ethics at Noon

Please join us for the following Ethics Center Event:

Monday, October 6th, Ethics at Noon: “The Vatican Synod on the Family: Ethical Challenges, Theological Frameworks,” Paul Crowley, S.J., SCU Religious Studies; Lisa Fullam, Jesuit School of Theology, and Sally Vance-Trembath, SCU Religious Studies. 12 p.m., Wiegand Room, Vari Hall

Beginning on October 5, Catholic bishops from around the world will meet at the Vatican to scrutinize the Church’s pastoral approach to families. Key ethical questions are sure to be discussed about marriage, conscience, and natural law morality. And key theological issues are sure to be raised about such topics as God’s mercy; the relationship of pope and bishops; and the admittance to communion of divorced and remarried Catholics. Pope Francis stirred up the Church when he called for the Synod to take place. Our panel will help us understand the energy behind what is happening in Rome and where this all might lead.
