Pre-Health Advising

Welcome to Santa Clara University's Pre-Health Professions website!  Whether you are a prospective student, a parent, or already enrolled at SCU, this site is organized to allow easy access to information about any of the major health careers SCU students pursue upon graduation.  That being said, the strongest website focus is on preparation for allopathic medical school, the graduate study leading to the MD degree.  If you still have questions after self-educating on this website and its many links, feel free to email the University's Pre-Health Advisor, Dr. Steven L. Fedder, a faculty member in the Department of Chemistry and advisor in the Drahmann Advising and Learning Resources Center, at sfedder@scu.edu

Although the pursuit of the MD degree is most common for pre-health students graduating from SCU, Dr. Fedder is dedicated to helping students find the most appropriate graduate health program based on a combination of their interests, personality, and academic skill level.  Significant numbers of students pursue osteopathic medicine, dentistry, physical therapy, physician assistant and nurse practitioner programs.  This website has some redundancy intentionally built in for ease of information gathering.  The FAQ section is presented in a conversational, sometimes first person style, to help with inquiries into some of the most basic information.  Happy navigating!
