Fred Moleck, Ph.D.

Summer Adjunct Professor

Dr. Moleck's courses at Santa Clara University range from History of Sacred Music, Ritual Music, Keyboard Improvisation, to Music for the Eucharist and Liturgy of the Hours. Published works include: fourteen articles in the 1967 New Catholic Encyclopedia; forty-two mini-articles in Worship Music: A Concise Dictionary (2000); Table Talk, a collection of columns, (2005); A Primer for the Visiting Organist (2007); and numerous articles on liturgical music in several periodicals.

His Ph.D. is in musicology from the University of Pittsburgh with research studies in London and Munich. In 2004 he was awarded the Michael Mathis Award for liturgical music leadership from the Notre Dame Center for Liturgy.  The National Association of Pastoral Musicians presented him with the Pastoral Musician of the Year award in 2006. He works as author and editor of GIA Publications, Inc., Chicago, IL.
